Career Coach Toronto
Gorett Reis

Feeling stuck and unfulfilled with what you are currently doing and would like some guidance figuring out next steps? If so, you stumbled on the right page.

You most likely landed on this page because you are looking to grow or change your career in some way.

My name is Gorett Reis and I’m a Toronto career and life coach with over 8 years experience. As a certified coach, I help mid to senior level professionals fed up with their careers. Generally, they want more financial security and fulfillment. I can relate to the fulfillment part as I got into coaching after a dissatisfying career in teaching and never looked back. I hold three degrees from the University of Toronto and most of my clients, who range from actors to executives, are from Toronto.

If you’re looking for a career more aligned to who you are or want to advance your career, feel free to contact me today to learn about my coaching services in Toronto. I’d love to help.

What is a Career Coaching and How Does it Work?

Generally, a career coach is a professional who guides you in all aspects of your career. They can help you with things like asking for more in terms of a pay raise or with dealing with difficult situations at work.

If you're feeling stuck in your career, and not sure what you want to do next, a career coach can help you figure out what it is you want and help develop a plan to achieve it.

A career coach can also help you identify your strengths and remove what’s holding you back in terms of pursuing something more aligned.

Whether you’re building presentation or network skills or seeking more purpose, a good career coach can be a valuable asset at any stage of your career.

How Can I Prepare for my Career Coaching or Counselling Session?

Toronto’s job market is constantly changing and evolving, whether it be from innovation like new technology, new opportunities at big companies who moved to Toronto or the reassessment and reshuffle of the pandemic (also known as the great resignation), it can be tough to keep up with.

This is why there is a greater need for career coaches in Toronto and in other major cities. Good career coaching can help you navigate this change or any reassessment so that you thrive within the market by doing what you love.

How Does Career Counselling Differ
From Career Coaching?

There is a lot of overlap between career counselling and career coaching, however, I would say that career counselling is generally more inward focused (e.g. figuring out your needs, values, patterns, passion, etc.) whereas career coaching is more action focused (e.g. signing up for a program to hone your skills or apply to different positions).

If you’re feeling lost and don't know what you want to do with your career and life, then career counselling is a good option for you. A good career counsellor will help you assess your interests, skills, etc. and help you find a satisfying fit. They’ll also help you set realistic goals and develop a plan to achieve them.

If you feel you would be a good career counselling or coaching candidate because you would like help with next steps then you can schedule a Get Acquainted and Strategy Session with me today. I’d be more than happy to guide you.

Why Work with a Career Coach or Counsellor?

Some of the primary benefits of hiring a career coach include:

  • Helping you figure out what you want to do.

  • Helping you set and achieve career plans and goals.

  • Helping you manage your career transitions and difficult times.

  • Helping you develop more career confidence and achieve greater work/life balance.

  • Helping you identify your strengths, areas of improvement, passion and purpose.

  • Helping you find a new position, advance in your career or start or grow your business.

Each is a way to navigate your career life so that you can feel more clear and confident in your choices.

What Makes My Career Coaching Approach Different?

I take a very inside-approach to career coaching, meaning I guide professionals to figure out what they truly want and then help them achieve that. If they know what they want but just need help getting there then I support them to take the steps required to fulfill their vision in the most authentic and effective way possible.

I don’t take an external approach by looking at what job markets are hot right now and see how my clients can fit in. If you’re looking for that, I’m not the career coach for you. That may be great for practicality but most likely not for true satisfaction.

A lot of my clients are looking for greater meaning or purpose in what they do and I’m a big believer that you are more likely to be good at something and enjoy it if it's aligned with you. This could be finding a new position, advancing in your job or career or starting or growing your business.

My approach is to help you find and figure out what you want to do in your current situation and life and to take systematic and actionable steps for you to achieve that (an inside out approach). If you already know what you want to do and just need support achieving it, we will create an implementation plan for you to do it in the most effective way possible.

Because I’m also a life coach, I help clients understand how their business or career is affecting their personal life and vice versa. I also help integrate neglected areas of one’s life so one’s career or business is not the only source of identity. This typically translates to  greater work/life balance.

So if you are feeling stuck and not sure what to do next or you would like an experienced person to help you execute where you want to go in your business or career, please contact me for a  free call to see how I can help and if we’re a good fit.
